In an instant your life changed forever. Maybe it was childhood trauma, an unexpected loss, a life transition, or the pandemic. You don’t recognize your life. You don’t recognize yourself. You want to feel…well normal again. I want that for you too.
So I offer timely and convenient evening and weekend hours, as well as secure teletherapy (online). I have a whole person approach so mental health is only one aspect to optimal wellness. I’ve been a Licensed Therapist for 16 years. I spent ten of those years working with people who experienced trauma from childhood emotional and physical abuse to medical trauma.
You survived and now I want to help you heal and thrive. To do that, I will use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It’s a mouthful I know, what it means is that I use an intervention that has been proven to be effective, to actually help you feel better. But therapy is not a one size fits all, so I will pull from a range of therapeutic interventions to find a strategy that best serves you.
It can be scary to open up to a stranger. Brene Brown says “We share our stories with people who have earned the right to hear them.” So during our first session, we start with the basics of well-being and coping skills. We can save the heavy stuff for later. It doesn’t mean we aren’t making progress. It means we are laying a strong foundation for the heavy lifting that will come later…when you are ready.
And to best serve you, I am willing to meet with you briefly, online at no cost so you can find out if I am the right fit for you without fear of being vulnerable (or paying $) only to find I am not your Therapist. I will even try to find a better fit for you if I am not.
Finally, as a Therapist I also pull from my background and life experience so let me tell you a little about me…I am a bi-racial and adopted into an interracial family from birth. My father is from South Asia and I identify as black. I grew up in a home with vast diversity of not only race but country, language and religion. So I deeply value the diverse experiences we all bring. I am a mother of three children from ages 28 to 5 (nope not a typo) and can related to the challenges of parenthood whether single or married.
Perhaps most importantly, my faith has helped me overcome the most difficult of life’s challenges but I am not here to judge or convert anyone. My sole purpose is to be so full of light and love that it pours out onto everyone around me. That said, my faith doesn't have to be your faith. Remember when I said no judgement? I mean that. Judging you is NOT in my wheelhouse. Regardless of your beliefs, background, position or pronouns I value you. I am grateful you are here seeking what we all need to grow and thrive, someone in our corner! If I can be that person for you, please reach out to me in whatever way is most convenient for you!
